A community-wide celebration of World Peace Day will take place Friday evening, September 21, and Saturday, September 22. World Peace Day was established by a United Nations resolution and inaugurated in 1982.

Friday events begin with a Peace Procession, gathering at 5:30pm in the L. E. Berger School parking lot, 631 4th Ave East, West Fargo, and walking at 6:00pm to Faith Lutheran Church, 127 2nd Avenue East, where the other evening events take place.

The keynote speaker at 7:00pm will be John Titus from Peaceful Tomorrows, an organization founded by family members of those killed on September 11th, who have united to turn grief into action for peace.

Singer/Songwriter Peter Mayer will appear in concert at 8:15pm. Peter is known for his talent to share the human journey with guitar and humorous as well as profound lyrics.

To cover costs of Friday events, donations will be requested at the door:
$15 adults; $10 students with current ID; children age 12 and under are free.

World Peace Day events continue on Saturday, September 22, at Memorial Union on the North Dakota State University campus. Workshops, a talent fair, open microphone, student art, organizational displays, and other activities for all ages will take place from 9:00am-3:00pm. An interfaith prayer service will take place at 3:00pm. Free-will donations will be accepted for Saturday events.
