“Four more American soldiers were killed in Iraq. Four thousand Americans have died in Iraq since that first bright idea for invasion and occupation was realized in 2003.

“[In addition,] .... a married couple and their three sons died when either a rocket or a mortar hit their central Baghdad home, ... two people died and seven were wounded by mortars in central Baghdad, ... another person died in an attack in eastern Baghdad, ... six dead bodies were discovered all across Baghdad, ... four Iraqi soldiers were killed while on patrol near Kirkuk, .... gunmen killed a police lieutenant and wounded two other police officers in central Baquba, ... a suicide car bomber killed six or more people and wounded ten in northwestern Baghdad ....”

“Brian Turner is a poet who has served seven years in the Army, most recently in 2004 as an infantry team leader in Mosul with the Third Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Second Infantry Division. His book of poems, "Here, Bullet," won the 2005 Beatrice Hawley Award and was a New York Times Editor's Choice selection. He lives in Fresno, Calif, where he teaches poetry at Fresno State.”

Winter Soldier

From March 13-16th, U.S. veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan will testify to what is really happening day in and day out, on the ground in these occupations. To provide a preview, Iraq Veterans Against the War  has created this short film. The film features three members who will be testifying at Winter Soldier and includes videos and photographs of Iraq from their deployments. This video contains graphic content. IVAW needs your support to help make Winter Soldier a success.
